Forest Hill is a Southside neighborhood located along the James River. The neighborhood is home to Forest Hill Park, one of the largest parks in the city. Pulling residents from all over the area, the South of the James Farmers Market is a staple on Saturdays in the park.
Access to the James River Park System is at Forest Hill’s front door. The Park System is operated by the City of Richmond and receives over 2 million visitors a year. Forest Hill residents have access to biking, hiking and river activities within a very short distance.
Westover Hills is directly across the river from the Fan and Museum Districts.
Residents use the Boulevard Bridge to access the northside from Westover Hills, but you won’t hear it called that. Neighbors refer to the bridge as the “Nickel Bridge” , its original toll.
The neighborhood sits at the geographic center of the city and provides access to the James River Park System, much like neighboring Forest Hill.
Most of the homes in the area were built in the 1920-1940 period and offer styles including Cape Cods, Tudor, Spanish Colonial and every once in awhile Modern.
Both these neighborhood offer well established restaurants, shopping, art and community activities.
